The Nissan Pulsar GTI-R is a turbocharged, four-cylinder vehicle with a performance output of 227 horsepower and 213 foot-pounds of torque. Keeping this engine tuned properly is important in maintaining peak performance for this sports car.

Aftermarket Intercooler

Because the Pulsar GTI-R's engine is a turbocharged four-cylinder, keeping this forced-air induction is key to maintaining healthy and peak performance at the same time. Because the engine of this vehicle operates under such stressful conditions, overheating can occur during extraneous or harsh conditions. Replace the intercooler with a larger aftermarket intercooler to increase the intake cooling.

Fuel Injectors

As the GTI-R gets older, the individual fuel injectors become worn and less efficient as when they were new. Technology in fuel injector accuracy and performance has increased, as well, and the right aftermarket injector can add much-needed power to this vehicle's engine. Consult with an authorised Nissan mechanic to determine the best fuel injector for this vehicle.

A turbocharged engine, such as the SR20DET in the GTI-R, will quickly wear down the exhaust pipes from the cylinder block to the rear of the vehicle. Aftermarket headers, catalytic converter and muffler replacement will ensure increased horsepower and fewer problems in the long run.
