The fuel system

The fuel system starts with a tank that has a 0.47 L (0.8 pint) capacity. The fuel mix ratio when using STIHL two-cycle engine oil is 50 to 1 gas to oil. While any brand name fuel works, it must have an octane rating of at least 90. The carburettor on this model is an all-position diaphragm carburettor with an integral fuel pump. Both the high speed and low speeds of the engine should be set at position "1," which can be achieved by turning the "L" and the "H" speed screws clockwise until they are fully seated and then turning them back one full rotation counterclockwise. The carburettor needs to maintain a pressure of 80 kpa (11.6 psi) to function properly.

The air gap between the flywheel magnet and the ignition module must be set at 0.2 to 0.3 mm (0.0079 to 0.012 inch). The spark plug for the 024 is either a Bosch WSR 6F, NGK BPMR 7 A, or a Champion RCJ 6Y. The electrode gap for the spark plug must maintain a distance of 0.5 mm (0.02 inch) to discharge the spark.
