Special Features

The Dolby Pro Logic decoder included in the SA-VA55 reproduces theatre-level surround sound effects through two built-in centre channel speakers contained within the two tower speakers. Sony supplied the pair of rear speakers with an infrared transmitter to communicate signals received from the two front speakers. The sound unit included two dynamic bass roar super woofer systems, and its speakers could be adjusted for centre, left, right and surround sound.

Sound Modes

The SA-VA55 includes five types and three modes of Dolby-quality surround sound. The five types include the Dolby Surround (Pro Logic) sound, theatre surround mode, concert hall surround mode, open-air stadium-like surround mode, and a simulated control for monaural sound sources arising from television programs.

Replacement Parts

Third party vendors can currently provide some replacement parts for the SA-VA55. Sony does sell a replacement user's manual on its website, although it is not clear whether the company still manufactures replacement parts for this system.
