When you see flashing red lights and error code 6A00 on your Canon MX850 inkjet printer, an obstruction or mechanical failure somewhere along the paper path caused the printer to stop working.

The cause might be something simple, such as a piece of paper or other foreign object jamming the print mechanisms. Often, the problem centres on the purge unit, which is where the printer heads park when not in use. The purge unit is a white plastic square on the right side that cleans the print heads after use.
Open the ink replacement cartridge and unplug the printer when the printer head assembly moves to the centre. Check the rollers and other parts for pieces of paper that may stop them from moving properly. Check the purge unit to make sure no foreign objects interfere with its movement. It should move easily along its rails without being forced. Also make sure the small ink pads in the purge unit are secure in their holders.
If you removed any obstructions, the printer should start working. If the error persists, you may need to take the printer in for service.
