Closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras are typically used in surveillance on personal and commercial property. These cameras record predetermined areas continuously with a time stamp on the footage in case of damage, theft or other crime on the premises. When CCTV cameras fall out of sync, it can cause issues to arise if the footage is relied upon for security.

Delay In Feed

An out-of-sync camera can cause delays in the live video feed. This delay prevents security personnel from observing the area in real time, delaying a response in emergency situations.

Recording Errors

When a CCTV camera is out of sync, it can cause recording of the area to pause or skip as the camera attempts to recover lost time. This may prevent illegal activities on the premises from being accurately recorded for law enforcement.

Data Corruption

A CCTV camera recording proceedings out of sync can cause the tape or digital recording to be inadmissible in court. Corruption in the camera recording can invalidate the time stamp on the recording or suggest the recording or camera was tampered with.
