MR16 connectors are a type of connection socket for spotlight bulbs. These types of spotlights are usually found indoors, often along an adjustable track, although they can be used outdoors as well.

Types of Bulbs

MR16 connectors are often used as connectors for halogen spotlight bulbs. A newer type of bulb that is also compatible with MR16 connectors is the light-emitting diode (LED) spotlight bulb.

Size and Voltage

MR16 connectors are for use only with 12-volt spotlight bulbs. The connectors measure 50mm in diameter; 35mm bulbs are also available, but those will only fit in MR11 connectors.

Because they easily fit in ceiling and wall tracks, MR16 connectors are rather versatile. They can be used to brighten up large areas in the home, such as the kitchen, and can often be found in museums, galleries and commercial areas.
