A hard drive caddie is an external disk enclosure used to connect one or two internal hard drives to a computer. Icy Box drive caddies are a series of disk enclosure products.

The Icy Box has an aluminium case that houses and connects a hard drive to a computer either through a USB port or FireWire. It has FTP capability for file transfers. Internal hard drives do not come with the Icy Box drive caddies.

The Icy Box drive caddie box comes with the external caddie case, an external power supply, screws and a screwdriver for installation, as well as a USB connector cable. It also contains an instruction guide that outlines how to properly connect the Icy Box to a computer. The Icy Box is compatible with both Windows and Mac computers.

Not every computer has space inside its case to install extra hard drives. The Icy Box allows a person to connect an internal hard drive to a computer -- either a drive from an old computer or a new internal drive (that costs less than a new external hard drive).
