Anytime you move from one home to another, you're reminded of the weight of a mattress. It can be quite heavy, and the weight actually increases over time. The weight of mattress tops varies between the different sizes.

Queen size

King size

King-size mattresses are 193 cm (76 inches) wide and 203.2 cm (80 inches) long. A sample of king mattresses listed for sale online ranged from 28.6 to 50.8 kg (63 to 112 pounds) and had an average weight of 41.8 kg (92.2 pounds).

Added weight

Over time, the weight of mattresses increases due to the accumulation of dead skin cells, dust mite debris, sweat and other factors. Estimates suggest the weight of a mattress may double over the course of 10 years.
