Housekeepers and room attendants in hotels, motels and inns need equipment and tools to improve their efficiency in maintaining the premises. A room attendant trolley contributes to their organisation and competency.

Trolley Structure

The trolley is a wheeled cart with shelves in the middle and cloth or plastic bags on either side. A tray sits atop the uppermost shelf. Some trolleys have additional bags for recycling.

Utility Features

The shelves hold fresh towels and bed linens. One bag holds soiled towels and bedclothes, and the other is a trash receptacle. Additional bags separate recyclable materials. The tray holds guest amenities, such as toiletry items, packets of beverage ingredients and condiments, and stationery.

Organization

Since the trolley is visible to guests, it needs to be clean, well-stocked and attractive. Sheets are stored on the second shelf at waist level to accommodate easy access and avoid back strain. Lighter-weight towels and washcloths occupy the lower shelf.

Trolley Maintenance

After cleaning every fourth room, the attendant removes trash and soiled linens from the cart to keep it tidy. Wheels are regularly oiled and cleaned to keep them quiet and in good working order.
