Cafe industry analysis

Updated April 17, 2017

Through the years, the cafe industry has continuously thrived and grown. Cafes have many roles in the community, from a hangout for friends to a place for students to study.

Cafes take on many forms. These include chain coffeehouses such as Starbucks and Seattle's Best Coffee, as well as independent cafes and store-based cafes.

The coffee industry is big money, particularly in the United States, where it has grown exponentially over the past decade. Speciality coffee itself is worth around £3 billion a year in America.

Cafes that do best are located close to business districts, where workers frequent them throughout the day. Other prime locations include grocery stores, bookstores and near schools and colleges.
