Acer Aspire One Problems

The Acer Aspire One netbook is a scaled down computer designed primarily for Internet use. The netbook does not have an optical drive (drive for CDs and DVDs), but functions like a small laptop in most other respects, including how you troubleshoot problems.

Power Problems

If your Acer Aspire One won't turn on, check the power indicator light on the front left of the computer. If it is not on you aren't receiving any power and need to plug in the computer to charge the battery. If the light is on, your screen may be on power save mode.

Blank Screen

If your power is on and your screen is blank, the screen is likely in power save or sleep mode. Press any key on the keyboard to "wake up" the screen. Pressing the power button will bring the computer out of Sleep mode. If the computer is set to a low brightness level, you may not be able to see anything on the screen. Press "Fn" and the forward arrow (with the sun symbol) to brighten the screen.

Can't Connect to Wi-Fi

The Acer Aspire One should automatically connect to an available Wi-Fi signal. If it doesn't, be sure the wireless function is on by sliding the switch on the front right of the computer. A message will come on the screen telling you if the wireless is now on or off. Move the switch until you receive the message that the wireless is on. You may have to go into your Wireless Networks to manually connect after doing this.
