Easy-to-Make Decorations for a '60s Birthday Party
Peace symbols make great decorations for a party inspired by the 1960s. (set of peace symbol - check my portfolio for simil image by Kirubeshwaran from Fotolia.com)

Psychedelic colours and flowers are some of the images that many people associate with the 1960s. If you and your friends are planning a '60s party, you can use elements of the decade to come up with party decor that will make the celebration even more enjoyable.

Flowers, particularly daisies, are reminiscent of the '60s and "Flower Power." Use fresh daisies as a table centrepiece, or purchase or make '60s-inspired posters with pictures of the daisy image that was popular in that era and tape them to the walls of the party space.

Peace Symbols

The peace symbol was seen on number plates, T-shirts, and necklaces in the '60s---create party decorations with the symbol by using a tray in the shape of a peace symbol to serve food, or by sprinkling peace-sign confetti on the main party table. Large peace-sign necklaces can also be hung on the backs of each chair.

Tie Dye

Use combinations of vibrant colours for your '60s parties by adorning each table with a tie-dyed tablecloth. Tack tie-dyed T-shirts to the walls, and paint 1960s slang words on the shirts, like "Groovy," "Far Out," or "Peace Out."
