Microsoft Office Professional and Microsoft Office Home are two different versions of the Microsoft Office software suite. Both software suites include different software, and are also priced differently.
Office 2010
The significant difference between each version of Microsoft Office is with the software that they include. Microsoft Office Home 2010 comes in two editions: Office Home and Student 2010, and Office Home and Business 2010. Both editions come with Word 2010, Excel 2010, PowerPoint 2010 and OneNote 2010. Office Home and Business has one additional program: Outlook 2010. Microsoft Office Professional 2010 includes all of the software that Home and Business has, as well as Access 2010 and Publisher 2010.
Office 2007
Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 comes with Word 2007, Excel 2007, OneNote 2007 and PowerPoint 2007. Office Professional 2007 also includes the aforementioned software, as well as Outlook 2007 with Business Contact manager, Publisher 2007, Accounting Express 2007 and Access 2007.
Price
As of September 2010, Microsoft Home and Student is $149.44, while Home and Business is $279.99. Office Professional is considerably higher than both Home suites, with a price of $499.99. Office 2007 is no longer sold on the Microsoft website, and as such, specific pricing cannot be determined from the original software developer.
