Wire tree tutorial
Trees made from wire and decorated with beads can make attractive decorations. (wire and beads image by nix pics from Fotolia.com)

You can craft small trees from wire to make decorations, ornaments or jewellery. You'll only need a few simple tools and you don't need any special skills to enjoy this craft.

Small wire trees can be made into pendants or brooches. Larger versions can be made into ornaments. Because you can attach such items as beads or small novelties to the ends of the wire, you can even make wire tree Christmas decorations.

Craft wire is inexpensive and easy to work. You can find it in a range of thicknesses and colours. You can also use recycled copper wire or telephone wire. You can decorate your tree with glass beads, gemstones, buttons, small toys or mini Christmas decorations. For jewellery, precious metal wire works well.

You will need a pair of pliers and some wire cutters. If you are recycling wire for your tree, you may need wire strippers. Many tutorials recommend that you use pliers with smooth round jaws that won't mark the wire. Needle-nose pliers are a good choice.
