A gynecologist is a physician who diagnoses, treats and cares for women. These professionals specialise in childbirth and reproductive health and disease. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that a large majority of gynecologists work in physician's offices.

As of May 2009, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported a median wage of £132,905 per year for a gynecologist. The highest paying industry is within physician's offices, with a median wage of £136,792 per year.


PayScale reports that the highest average salary for gynecologists with over 20 years of experience was between £99,638 and £164,576 per year as of August 2010. 42 per cent of these professionals have between one and four years of experience, and the average salary for this level of experience was between £39,576 and £136,065 per year for the same period.


According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the highest concentration of gynecologists is in New Mexico; these professionals earn a median salary of £111,553 per year as of May 2009.
