Several different brands and scents of hand lotions can be purchased off the shelves of department and grocery stores. These lotions are a lifesaver during the winter time, but can leave behind a greasy film on the skin. A light, non-greasy homemade hand lotion can be concocted from a few easy-to-obtain ingredients that will moisturise skin without leaving behind an unwanted film.

- Avocado oil
- Rose water
- Plastic bowl
- Unscented lotion base
- Rose oil
- Vanilla oil
- Orange essential oil
- Airtight container
Combine one tablespoon of grated bees wax, one teaspoon of avocado oil and one half tablespoon of rose water in a plastic bowl.
Microwave the mixture on 50% heat for one minute. Stir the ingredients and continue to microwave for one minute increments until all ingredients are completely melted.
Add three-quarters of a cup of unscented lotion base to the mixture. Stir the ingredients until they are well blended.
Add five drops of rose oil, five drops of vanilla oil and 10 drops of orange essential oil to the mixture.
Stir the oil well into the lotion and place it into an airtight container.
Shake the container to redistribute the essential oils before opening the container and applying the lotion to your hands and body.
