A Secure Merchant Account ID is a unique code allocated to every member of PayPal who sells goods and services online. This vital ID allows merchants to access some of the more advanced services PayPal provides.

Secure Merchant Account ID

The Secure Merchant Account ID should not be confused with your PayPal username or registered e-mail address. It's a 13-character code comprised of letters and numbers.

Where to Find Your ID

You can find your Secure Merchant Account ID by logging into your PayPal account and clicking on the profile link. The ID is displayed at the top of the page.

Not Just for eBay

PayPal is best known as the payment service on the eCommerce website eBay, but it's also used by merchants all over the Web on their own websites. They all use the Secure Merchant Account ID.

Personalise PayPal

On the PayPal site you can choose from an array of buttons and widgets to incorporate in your own website to accept payments. By adding your Secure Account ID to the HTML code, you can personalise the button.

Take Payments

When customers click on the button, they will be directed to PayPal to make the payment. The PayPal Secure Merchant ID code ensures that PayPal knows the money taken is for you.
