A4 Paper Vs. A5

Knowing the difference between paper sizes and titles is helpful not only in an office environment, but also if you are printing from your printer at home.

A4 Size

A4 paper is 8.26 by 11.69 inches. It is a European-sized paper that was created by the International Standards Association.

A5 Size

A5 paper is 5.83 by 8.27 inches. It is also a European-sized paper that was created by the ISO.

Types

Both A4 and A5 papers are made for inkjet, laser and colour printers. Both come in bond, matt, parchment, soft gloss, gloss and high-gloss types.

Weight

A4 paper is produced in 24-pound weight sheets up to 58-pound weight. A5 paper is also produced in 24-pound to 58-pound weight.

Envelopes

A5 and A4 papers fit into envelopes designed for their respective sizes.
