Thermacell Australia makes a prefabricated insulation product also called Thermacell. These specially designed interlocking insulation forms lower building costs while insulating buildings effectively.

Thermacell technology produces hollow blocks made of polystyrene plastic. These blocks can interlock with each other to use for the basis of concrete-filled structures, according to the Thermacell website.

Homes and commercial buildings constructed from Thermacell have superior acoustic and thermal insulation while remaining strong and maintenance-free for the life of the structure.

Thermacell insulation can add form, strength and protection to a variety of structures including archways, door frames, walls, plumbing pipes, electrical wiring, flooring and slabs.

Thermacell's ease of use allows for quick assembly times, while its strength (up to eight times that of double brick construction), energy efficiency and relatively low cost make it an attractive option for builders.

Interlocking insulation blocks originated in Germany in the mid-20th century and have proven popular throughout Europe ever since. In the 1980s, the Thermacell company adopted and refined this technology for the "do-it-yourself" market.
