If you’re looking for a laptop to use for photo editing, you’ll need to know what the minimum specifications are. Photo editing uses resources, and you want a system that can handle what you throw at it.

At the very least, you’re going to want to have 2 GB of RAM. Ideally, you would want more than that, but 2 GB is the bare minimum.

Processing Power

The more powerful your processor, the less strain you’ll put on your laptop when you’re doing photo editing. At the very least, you’ll need at least a 1.6 GHz, but 2.0 GHz or better is advisable, and you’ll need dual-core processors.

Video Card

Whichever laptop you want to use, make sure that there is a dedicated video card. Photo editing requires a lot of video processing power, and that means that you’ll need a dedicated video card with a graphics processing unit.

Hard Drive

Photo editing takes up a lot of storage space, so make sure that your laptop has an adequate hard drive. A bare minimum of 160 GB of storage is acceptable, but more is much better.

For maximum clarity, make sure that the display is an LCD that is at least 17 inches wide.
