Facts About Giorgio Armani Cosmetics

The name Giorgio Armani is synonymous with classic style. The Italian fashion designer's high-end clothing line, founded in 1975, is just one arm of the Armani empire. Armani's name can be found on sports uniforms, Olympic flag bearer outfits, cell phones, home interior goods, eye wear and cosmetics.


The Giorgio Armani cosmetics line debuted in 2000. The cosmetics are produced and distributed by the L'Oreal company, as part of a partnership agreement.


Giorgio Armani's beauty line offers skin-care products, makeup and makeup accessories, perfumes and colognes for women. Men's fragrances and skin-care products are also available.


You won't be able to pick up an Armani lipstick at your local drugstore. But Giorgio Armani cosmetics are sold worldwide. They are available online through the Giorgio Armani site and at pricier department stores, such as Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue and Barney's.


Prices for Giorgio Armani cosmetics are comparable to Lancome, Chanel and Dior cosmetics lines. MAC and Clinique brands are almost 1/2 the price. Revlon lipsticks run about 1/4 the price of Armani products.

Fun fact

One of Giorgio Armani's luxury skin creams is called Crema Nera, or Black Cream. Its "miracle ingredient" is obsidian, a mineral compound from petrified lava that Armani discovered in mud baths at Pantelleria, the Mediterranean island where he has a vacation home, according to the "New York Times."
