Bicarbonate of soda, or baking soda, has benefits that aid illnesses. It has long been used as home remedy for many conditions, and it is safe to use. Bicarbonate of soda comes in powder form and can be found in the baking section of the grocery store.

Bicarbonate of soda has long been used as a remedy for acid reflux when mixed with water. This remedy works because of the alkaline in the bicarbonate of soda.


Many people use baking soda and water to brush their teeth. It is even used in actual toothpaste as a whitener.

Urinary Tract

Using bicarbonate of soda, it is possible to reduce the amount of acid in urine. Its use can help with urinary tract infections as well as with kidney stones, and it can even be beneficial to those with advanced kidney disease, reports an upcoming study in the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology.

Bicarbonate of soda can help with skin irritations such as rashes, stings and acne.
