Psychologist Jean Piaget once said that "dramatic play permits children to fit the reality of the world into their own interests and knowledge. One of the purest forms of symbolic thought available to young children, dramatic play contributes strongly to the intellectual development of children."

What is Dramatic Play?

Dramatic play is spontaneous and creative play. Kids may re-enact events, stories and plays. It can include role-playing, dress up and fantasy play, according to Western Illinois University.

Age Group

Children of all ages can benefit from dramatic play, but it is most useful for children 18 months to 5 years of age.
