Daycare centers providing services for fifteen children or less will provide at least one toilet and one sink. An additional toilet and sink is to be provided for each set of thirty children beyond the initial fifteen.
If a daycare center is primarily responsible for infants in diapers, it's only required to have one toilet per thirty children, but it must provide two sinks. - All aspects of the restroom facility--including the toilet, sink and required amenities--must be within the reach of the children. They should be able to use the facilities without adult assistance.
- At least one bathing facility must be available for use by the children whether it's a permanent facility or portable.
- The restroom facilities must not open directly into an area where food is prepared or into an area where food is served to the children.
- Appropriate supervision is required at all times while children are using the restroom. This requirement varies according to the child's age and needs, and daycare workers must know each child's whereabouts at all times.
- Restrooms shall be provided with running water, toilet paper, soap, paper towels or a drying machine and trash receptacles that are properly installed. All of these things must be maintained at all times.
