Underlying Conditions

If you have hypertension, diabetes or are obese, Diane-35 can cause water retention, which will make such medical conditions worse. Also, do not take Diane-35 if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or are nursing.

Common Side Effects

The most common side effects of Diane-35 include nausea, abdominal pain, bloating, vomiting, dizziness, breast tenderness or pain, excessive fatigue and feet or ankle swelling.

Less Common Side Effects

Other less common, bothersome side effects may include weight changes, body hair growth or loss, libido changes, appearance of brown spots on your skin and sunlight sensitivity.

Rare Side Effects

Rare side effects include vision changes, severe abdominal pain, calf pain, groin pain, abrupt coordination changes, breathing difficulties, slurred speech and coughing of blood. Seek emergency medical attention if you experience such side effects.


Tell your doctor about any other medications you take, as some drugs can interfere with Diane-35 and cause adverse reactions. Do not suddenly stop taking Diane-35 or change dosages of other medications without consulting with your doctor first.
