Symptoms include fatigue, weakness, lethargy, low blood pressure, moodiness, dry skin, poor memory, poor circulation, hypoglycaemia, poor immune system, cravings for sugar, brittle nails, and a feeling of being driven and anxiousness.

Astragalus is an herb that boosts adrenal gland function. It works by enhancing the immune system. It provides energy, increases metabolism and lowers blood pressure. This herb is also good for fighting off colds and the flu. Do not take astragalus if you have a fever.

Ginseng is beneficial to adrenal gland health. It enhances the immune system and reduces stress. Since adrenal fatigue is usually caused by stress, ginseng is an important herb to add to your dietary intake. Do not take ginseng if you have heart disease, low blood sugar or high blood pressure.

Liquorice root is another herb that improves adrenal gland function. This herb also helps with asthma, allergies, chronic fatigue, hypoglycaemia, fever and bowel function. Liquorice root is not recommended for long-term treatment; use this herb for only one week at a time.
