Sore gums can be extremely painful. It can be difficult for you to chew or speak, and going to the dentist can be expensive. More and more people are resorting to home remedies to cure things such as muscle aches, sore gums and other body ailments.
Calendula was used in the Civil War to help pack the wounds and to stop bleeding. It carries anti-inflammatory agents and helps create blood clots. It is a form of marigold and grows in Egypt. Calendula is a mild antiseptic and can be drank as a tea to relieve sore gums.
Use ice on your gums to ease the pain. Avoid crunching hard chunks of ice with your teeth, however, because this can lead to cracked or broken teeth. If it helps, use slushy ice or drink a flavoured slushy. The cold from the ice or slush will help numb the pain.
Warm Salt Water
Gargling with warm salt water can also help ease both gum and throat pain. Gargle with warm salt water off and on throughout the day as needed. Rinse your mouth out with fresh water when you're done.
Warm Tea Bags
Hold the warm tea bag against your sore gums for relief. A warm tea bag is believed to draw the pain out of the gums in order to help find relief.
Brush your teeth at least twice a day, but use a medium-bristled brush. Use a good toothbrush and make sure you're flossing and using a strong mouthwash.
